63-year-old man is Baker County’s sixth COVID-related fatality during September

The Oregon Health Authority reported today, Sept. 30, that a 63-year-old Baker County man died on Sept. 24, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in Boise, after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 3. The presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed, according to OHA.
The man is the sixth Baker County resident to die during September after testing positive, and the 25th overall during the pandemic. The six deaths during September are the most for any month.
September has also set a record for the most COVID-19 cases in any month. The Baker County Health Department reported 10 new cases on Wednesday, Sept. 29, bringing the monthly total to 453. The previous monthly record was 300 case, in August 2021.
