Ronald F. McCormick
Formerly of La Grande 1932-2019
Ronald F. McCormick, 86, of Sagle, Idaho, and formerly of La Grande, died July 23 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Sandpoint First Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery under the auspices of Lakeside Masonic Lodge #42 AF&AM, followed by military honors. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 at Lakeview Funeral Home of Sandpoint, which is handling the arrangements.
Known as Ron, he was born July 24, 1932, in Klamath Falls, the only child of Wilbur and Mabel McCormick. He graduated from Union High School in 1950, where he won state championships in football, basketball and track. Ron then earned a bachelor degree in forestry at what is now Oregon State University. He was one of the few drafted into the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee in Alaska.
Ron married Joan Garity on Feb. 27, 1957, in Boise, Idaho. He worked as a forester for Mount Emily Lumber Co. in La Grande, for Boise Cascade in Salem, then for Hedlund Lumber Co. in Sandpoint. In 1980, Ron became the resource manager for McFarland Cascade in White Sulphur Springs, Montana.
In 1984, Ron and Joan bought the Stove Coral in Sandpoint. They retired in 1993, and Joan passed away in 2004. On March 11, 2006, Ron married Sharon (Jaquish) Rench in Hope, Idaho, and they made their home in Sagle.
Ron was a member of B.P.O. Elks #1376 and served as director of the East-West Shrine Football Game. He was a 64-year Mason, a member of Lakeside Lodge #42 AF&AM, for which he served five times as Worshipful Master. He was a five-time District Deputy Grand Master for the State of Idaho Grand Lodge, a 50-year member of the Calam Shrine and a past president of the Panhandle Shrine Club. Ron was also a member of both the York Rite and Scottish Rite masonic bodies.
Ron was also a member of the First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, history and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a dedicated Oregon State University Booster.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sharon McCormick; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Pam McCormick of Longview, Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Mindi and Doug Bradetich of Sagle, Idaho, and Terri and Cliff Benda of St. Maries, Idaho; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Joan McCormick.

Michael Edward Moeller

Michael Edward Moeller, 64, of Island City, passed away on Saturday June 22,2019 in Draper, Utah with family by his side. Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday August 9, 2019 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at the County Club Golf Course.
Mike was born on October 11,1954 in Baker City, Oregon to Edward Wayne Moeller and Marjorie Sue Blankenship Moeller.
Mike attended school in Baker City, OR graduating from Baker High School in 193. He pursed his education attending Blue Mountain Community College completing an Associates Business Degree. He then continued his education at Boise State University completing graduation requirements in 1978 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, receiving a Certified Public Accounting License of Idaho in 1979 and Oregon’s in 1980. In 1981 he became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. On July 24, 1976 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Joleen Heck at the St. Frances Catholic Church in Baker City, Oregon.
Mike started his first year accounting career in Boise, ID at the Ernst & Whinney Accounting Firm. Returning back to Eastern Oregon in 1980, he started his career with Eveson, Snyder, Lincoln, Sydell & Lewis. Company known today as CPA Connected professional accountants LLC. Mike continued to work as a CPA at the same company for 39 years. Serving many clients who trusted his professionalism and many who became valued friends. Mike served on many different boards and organizations being the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and serving as president of the Easter Oregon Chapter from 2000-20001. He also served as Rotary Secretary for 37 years, and finance counsel for Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, and board member of La Grande Country Club.
Mike enjoyed hosting the neighborhood footabll parties, especially his two favorite teams, Boise State Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. He was always ready for a game of golf with his golf buddies and loved spending quality time with every one of them. Rock and Roll music was one of his passions since he was a young boy and he raised his children on the songs of the 50’s and 60’s, frequently challenging them to games of Name that Tune. Spending time with his four grandchildren was the highlight of his life. Taking them to an afternood movie was something he loved and not to mention spoiling all of them. Putting his kids and grandkids first in everything he did made him fulfilled and happy. Family vacations were the best family memories that will be cherished forever. Hawaii, Disney World and Leavenworth were some of his favorite places to visit.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years. Joleen (Heck) Moeller, daughter Lori Kotter (Casey) of Utah; son, Joe Moeller of Boise, ID; grandchildren Owen and Mason Kotter and Anthony and Kyler Moeller; brother Frank Gardner; sister Teresa Schalk (David) all of Nevada; in-laws, Joe and Agnes Heck; sisters-in-law Doris (Ron) Hutton, City (Shane) Sowers and Carol (Jeff) Petry; brother-in-law, David (Jacque) Heck and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Moeller; step-father, Darrell Brown; mother, Majorie Sue Brown; sister-in-law Gloria Gardner; sister-in-law Leta Fischer and brother-in-law Curtis Heck; niece, Kelly Ann Wimp.

Ilene Cutler Hill
Cove, OR

Ilene Cutler Hill passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the age of 94 following a complete life of faith, work, and family.
She was born August 23, 1924 in Corinne Utah to Joseph Ransom Cutler and Jennie Rozelle Wood. She was the 6th of seven children and the youngest of 5 sisters. She was raised and educated in Corinne, Utah and attended Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah.
She met her husband Burton Joseph Hill while attending High School. They met at a dance she was attending at Bear River High School where he attended school. They shared some dances and began dating. As soon as Burton graduated High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was sent to Europe as a n Engineer Top Turret Gunner in a B-17. Ilene began her own war efforts and worked with her mother at Bushnell General Hospital in Brigham City.
ON June 22, 1945, she married Burton Hill in the Logan Temple. It was a double ceremony with Burt’s brother Ralph and his bride Miriam. Burt was on a 30 day leave from the Army so they visited Burt’s parents farm in Cove, Oregon where Ilene stayed until she could join him in Henderson, Nevada where he finished his enlistment in the Army. Upon discharge they moved to Cove, Oregon where they purchased a farm adjoining his father’s and they farmed together.
Ilene worked hard raising six children and keeping the farm going. She was a good wife and supporter to her husband and was never one to shun the learning of a new skill. Over the years she developed a reputation as an astute businesswoman. In the early 60s the family took of residence in the nearby town of La Grande, Oregon still farming in the evening and weekends, but their real estate holding grew to include several rentals giving them additional income under her management. In 1970 the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where they resided until returning to Oregon in 1981. She continued to purchase and manage rental properties and became involved in selling Magic Mill mixers, grinders, and other products and ultimately grew it into a successful kitchen specialties business.
Burt and Ilene celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in Cove, Oregon on June 24, 2019 surrounded by family. She taught her children to be hard workers and to care for others. She always had room in her heart to reach out and help others in need. She was loved by her family and friends and will be missed.
Ilene is preceded in death by her father Joseph, her mother Jennie, brother Ransom, and sisters Jennie, Lenora, Joyce, and Venna. She is survived by her husband Burton, brother Bob and her children Alan (Renee), Richard( Kerma), Clair (Nancy), Kathleen Kunz (Kent), Jennie Loveland (Von), and Ben (Laura). She has 37 grand children and 108 great grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at the LDS Moss Hill Bountiful Ward building, 455 S. 1200 E., Bountiful, Utah prior to the funeral on August 3rd form 9:30-10:30 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. following the viewing. A viewing will also be held at LDS Union Ward Chapel, 702 N. Main, Union Oregon prior to the funeral on August 6th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Internment at the Cove Cemetery in Cove, Oregon.
