Police following leads on alleged robbery

A La Grande resident was reportedly robbed at gunpoint late Thursday night, and law enforcement officials are following up on leads on three suspects, according to a press release from the La Grande Police Department.

The alleged incident took place at about 11:10 p.m. July 25 on the 600 block of 16th Street in La Grande. According to the release, three masked suspects forced their way into the victim’s home and robbed her at gunpoint with a small handgun before leaving the scene on foot traveling north on 16th Street.
All three suspects were described as tall, light-skinned young adult males wearing bandanas over their faces and baggy blue jeans, according to the release. Two reportedly were wearing gray hoodies, and one was wearing a black hoodie.
The La Grande Police Department has been assisted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police in its initial investigation. The suspects had not been located as The Observer went to press Monday morning. The release stated the initial investigation indicates the suspects were looking for “something and/or someone specific,” and that this was not a random criminal act.
