Allan E. Espey

Elgin

Allan Edward Espey, 69, of Elgin, died Aug. 15 at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory.

Allan was born in Los Angeles to Bert and Betty Smith Espey. He attended Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, California, and was a 1970 graduate of the California Maritime Academy. He retired from the State of California as a data analyst.

Allan was a kind and gentle person who will be especially missed by his close friends, Andy Renoe and Mariah Meeks.

Surviving relatives include his brother, Jae Espey; many cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Allison Painter.

Ronald L. Nash

Island City 1944-2019

Ronald “Ron” Livingston Nash, 75, of Island City, died Aug. 17 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Island City. Casual dress is preferred by the family.

Known as Ron, he was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Eugene and Irene (Livingston) Nash. He resided in Twin Falls, Idaho; Sunnyside, Washington; Pendleton; Indiana; and Island City. Ron graduated from Pendleton High School. He continued his education by attending Eastern Oregon University and Brigham Young University. While playing football at BYU, he was named Football Star of the Year for the Cougars.

Ron was the general manager for Fleetwood Travel Trailers in several Western state locations. In 1993, he became CEO, president and co-founder of Northwood Manufacturing. In 2009, he purchased Outdoors RV. A successful businessman, Ron earned Business Man of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; son, Christopher Nash of Oregon; daughters, Casie Baruffi and husband, Chris, of Arizona, Sidney Nash of Oregon, Keri Nash of Idaho, and Emily Nash of Idaho; stepdaughters, Lisa Hauner and husband, Tim, of Oregon, Megan Fehrenbacher of Oregon, and Dana Fehrenbacher and husband, Tod Hall, of Washington; aunt, Virginia Merriman; uncle, Bob Livingston; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Irene Nash, and sister, Carolyn Birrer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Katie P. Heberger, 84, of La Grande, died Aug. 20 at her home. An obituary is forthcoming. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
