Baker holds off Pioneers

Baker controlled action most of the game Saturday, then held off pesky Mac-Hi in the fourth quarter for a 51-46 Greater Oregon League boys basketball win at BHS.
The Class 4A seventh-ranked Bulldogs (12-2) built their lead to as many as 12 points late in the third quarter.
Then Mac-Hi rallied to pull within three points three times in the fourth quarter.
Riley Flanagan made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 38 seconds the first two times the Pioneers got within three points.
Then, with 3.9 seconds left, Spencer Smith hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.
After trailing 10-8 at the end of the first quarter, Baker went on to lead 25-18 at halftime.
Gabe Gambleton and Kaden Sand each scored five points in the second period, and Smith four.
Caden Long then scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. Flanagan added eight of his 10 points.
Baker continues GOL play Friday at Ontario.
