Jayne and Mike Skidgel had a busy July — they got married and bought a store.
The process to buy Kicks Sportswear, however, started years before.
“We looked at it at least two years before we bought it,” Jayne said. “When they first put it out there, we thought ‘hmm … that might be interesting.’ ”
The Skidgels, along with Jayne’s parents Jeff and Carole Smith, purchased Kicks at 1801 Main St., from Ryan and Kaylin Chaves, who opened the store in downtown Baker City about 10 years ago.
The ownership change was official July 1. Jayne said they are planning an open house in January after the holiday rush.
