Ketchican walks past Bulldogs

It’s a known fact in baseball, you can’t defense free passes.

Baker pitchers continued to find that out Thursday in a 19-3 loss to Ketchican High School at a tournament in Arizona.

Five Baker hurlers issued 21 walks and hit four batters.

“We struggled on the mound again,” said Baker coach Tim Smith.

“Right now our pitchers are having a real tough time finding the strike zone. Hopefully, we can learn from it.”

Smith said Ketchican only outhit the Bulldogs 10-8. But it was the results of those hits that spelled the difference.

“When we got a hit there was usually nobody on base. But when they got a hit it usually scored two or three runs,” Smith said.

Baker (1-3) hosts Nyssa in a nonleague doubleheader Tuesday at the Baker Sports Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
