Koby Hansen and Blake Stone weren’t even supposed to compete together at the 2016 National Leadership Conference.
But their decision to put their heads together for the Future Business Leaders of America’s Global Business contest was a good one.
The two returned home as national champions from the June 29-July 2 event in Atlanta.
Toni Zikmund, their FBLA adviser, said the young men’s champion win at the national conference is the first she’s aware of at Baker High School, at least in the past 16 years.
“While I was so excited to hear that they had made finals and even taken first place, it really didn’t surprise me too much,” Zikmund wrote in an email to the Herald.
