On Highway 245, milepost 19, 12:22 p.m. Thursday; police said a tractor and belly dump semitrailer driven by Virgile Eugene Hartman, 43, address unavailable, was hauling asphalt during an Oregon Department of Transportation repavement project when the driver went off the road while attempting to change the radio channel to the worksite channel. The vehicle left the road over an abrupt edge, rolled and came to rest in the ditch on the right side of the highway. Hartman was taken to the Baker City hospital with minor injuries by a member of the work crew, police said. Asphalt was spilled from the trailer and a hazmat crew was called for cleanup.
