The Hodgen/Barley Brown’s Brewers, Baker’s American Legion baseball team, finished fifth Sunday at the annual Ashlee Hodgen Memorial tournament at Pendleton.

The Brewers lost 12-0 to Meridian Sunday afternoon after placing second in their pool at the three-day tournament.

In pool play, the Brewers lost 10-9 to Pendleton Friday, then defeated Sandy 12-2 and Redmond 13-3 on Saturday. The Baker squad then finished pool play Sunday morning with a 13-3 win over DeSales.

Against Pendleton, Baker led 9-5 entering the bottom of the final inning. Pendleton then scored five runs, including a walk-off single to end the game.

Sam McCauley and Jack Rohner each had a pair of RBIs for the Brewers.

Morgan Bennett was the losing pitcher.

Against Sandy, Conner Lay and Dawson Linscott each drove in two runs.

McCauley, the winning pitcher, and Lay each had two hits, including a double each.

Against Redmond, Baker broke a 6-6 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jake Rohner led the Brewers with two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs.

Bennett and McCauley each added two RBIs. Bennett finished with three hits. McCauley, Spencer Smith and Max Rohner each added two.

Linscott was the winning pitcher.

Against DeSales, Bennett led a 13-hit attack with three hits.

Baker exploded for eight runs in the third inning, with nine of 10 hitters reaching base consecutively on hits.

Lay was the winning pitcher.

Against Meridian, Baker managed just two hits, with Lay’s sixth-inning single breaking up a no-hit bid by Meridian.

Bennett took the loss on the mound.

The Brewers travel to La Grande for a doubleheader Tuesday, then to Homedale for a tournament Friday through Sunday.
