A half-dozen Baker track and field athletes are headed to the Class 4A state meet next weekend in Eugene.

The six Bulldogs qualified for state after placing first or second in their events Saturday at the Greater Oregon League district meet at Baker High School.

Two, Kaeli Flanagan and Sydney Younger, advance to state as district champions.

Flanagan won the GOL title in the girls high jump. Younger did likewise in the girls 400.

Those two also join Jayden Rice and Lacey Jones on Baker’s district runnerup 4×400 relay team.

Paige Burchard also placed second in the girls discus and shot.

The lone Baker boys advancing to state is Darian Villalobos, who placed second in the javelin.

Both the Baker boys and girls placed third in the team standings Saturday.

La Grande won both the boys and girls team championships.

The state meet is Friday and Saturday at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
