Homedale nips Baker, 6-5

Homedale scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to edge Baker 6-5 in a nonleague baseball game at the Baker Sports Complex.
Despite the loss, Baker coach Tim Smith was pleased with the Bulldogs’ play.
“I told the kids after the game that I thought we played well,” Smith said.
Baker used “small ball” to score most of its runs. The Bulldogs executed a squeeze play in the first inning and added a safety squeeze later in the game.
Seth Dixon led Baker’s offense with three hits, including a triple, and an RBI.
Tyler Joseph added two hits.
Baker returns to Greater Oregon League play Friday when the Bulldogs travel to La Grande for a doubleheader.
