Snow has caused part of an historic building to collapse on the west side of Resort Street just south of Washington Avenue. Resort Street will be closed from Broadway to Valley. There was nobody in the building, which is used for storage and is the former site of Baker Furniture Company. The building, at 1916 Main St., is just south of the Geiser Grand Hotel and occupies the block between Main and Resort streets. The most extensive damage was on the Resort Street side, although the front street-level windows on the Main Street side were broken.See Monday’s issue of the Baker City Herald for a story and photos.
