The first priority for this year’s Baker boys soccer team is to score goals.
Make that at least two goals. Last year’s team managed just one score the entire season.
“We have to find some kind of offense,” said Baker coach Victor Benites.
“We have a lot of forwards and midfielders, but we will be hurting on defense.”
Benites has about two dozen players to choose from this season, including several returning players.
Among the current Bulldogs are Jake Gentilli, Omar Benites, Mason Tomac, Nick Barnes, Alexander Schott, Colton Anderson, Quinn Coomer, Eric Lien, Zack Schwin and Dylan Feldmeier.
Newcomers include Brylan Robb, Alex Davilla, Jorge Duran, Isaac Nemec, Alejandro Duran, Brandon Johnson, Oliver Quezada, Justin Eskew and Ian Feldmeier.
“The team is looking better than last year,” Benites said.
“But we’re mostly young players.”
Baker hosts Payette in its season opener Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Baker Sports Complex.
