A 59-year-old Pendleton man died in a two-car crash just before noon today at the intersection of Second and A streets in Baker City. Ronald R. Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to Oregon State Police.
Police said a 2002 Dodge Stratus, driven by Yvonne N. Hesseltine, 59, of Baker City, was driving west on A Street when her car struck the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox SUV that Fisher was driving south on Second St. Fisher’s vehicle rolled onto its top. He was ejected in the crash.
Hesseltine’s passenger, Raisan C. Hesseltine, 40, of Baker City, was taken to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City and treated for minor injuries. Yvonne Hesseltine was not hurt, police said.
OSP accident reconstructionists will try to determine whether Fisher was wearing his seat belt, or whether the belt failed.
The intersection was closed for four hours as the investigation was conducted and the wreckage removed. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
OSP was assisted by the Baker City Police Department, the Baker City Public Works, the Baker County District Attorney’s Office and the Baker City Fire Department.
