Baker kept its slim postseason hopes alive Saturday by splitting a Greater Oregon League softball doubleheader with Ontario at the Baker Sports Complex.

Baker won the first game 4-2, but dropped the second game 15-12 in 11 innings.

The results leave Baker with a 2-8 GOL record with a doubleheader at Mac-Hi remaining on the schedule Friday.

Baker will need to win Friday and get some help to qualify for the playoffs.

In the first game against Ontario, Baker took a 3-1 lead in the third inning.

Jordan Rudolph and Jordan Plumbtree each had RBI singles in the inning. Dani McCauley added a run-scoring ground out.

Rudolph added a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Plumbtree pitched an 8-hitter, striking out eight and walking two.

Game 2 went back and forth until Ontario scored three times in the top of the 11th.

Baker took a 3-1 lead in the second inning on a solo homer by Gussie Cook, and a two-run double by McCauley.

Then, trailing 4-3, Baker scored four runs in the fourth inning.

Hope Collard had a two-run single, and Cook a two-run homer.

Then, trailing 8-7 in the seventh inning McCauley laced an RBI double to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Cook finished with three hits — a double and two homers — and four RBIs. Rudolph had four hits, McCauley three hits and three RBIs, and Ashlee Brinton three hits.
