Baker bats were dropping base hits in among the raindrops and snowflakes Tuesday at the Sports Complex.

The Bulldogs banged out 17 hits on the way to defeating New Plymouth, Idaho, 22-4 in five innings in nonleague softball action.

Jordan Rudolph, Dani McCauley and Morgan Plumbtree each had three hits to lead the Bulldogs.

Kaylan Mosser and Gussie Cook each added two hits.

Plumbtree and Cook each had a three-run home run in the game. It was Cook’s first career homer. Plumbtree drove in five runs, McCauley four, and Cook four.

Plumbtree threw four innings to earn the win in the circle. McCauley pitched the fifth inning.

Baker jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. McCauley had an RBI double, Plumbtree and Mosser RBI singles, and Mollie McCrary a sacrifice fly.

Baker added three runs in the second inning on a pair of bases loaded walks and a New Plymouth error.

Baker increased its lead to 11-1 in the third, thanks in part to Plumbtree’s homer.

The Bulldogs then erupted for 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Cook led the way with her three-run homer. McCauley drove in three runs with a double and single, and Rudolph had a two-run double.

Plumbtree, Victoria Rasmussen and McCrary each added an RBI. Baker (1-0) is now idle until March 25 when the Bulldogs compete at a two-day tournament at Milton-Freewater.
