Baker never let Emmett get going Thursday and ran away with a 62-38 nonleague boys basketball win in the Baker gym.
“I was really, really pleased with our stingy defense,” said Baker coach Joel Richardson. “That opened up some scoring opportunities at the other end of the floor for us.
“I just loved the way we got after people on defense. We forced a boatload of turnovers.”
Baker scored the first 10 points of the game, including six by Logan Sand.
The Bulldogs led 12-5 after one period then outscored the Huskies 23-6 in the econd quarter to take a 35-11 halftime advantage.
Sand led the way with 11 of his game-high 22 points in the stanza.
Richardson emphasized putting the Huskies away to start the second half. However, the Bulldogs hit a minor lull and were outscored 9-6 in the quarter.
Baker then righted the ship and pulled away in the fourth quarter.
“We got a lot of different people involved in the game,” Richardson said.
Baker outrebounded Emmett 31-18, and had 16 steals, 11 assists and 20 turnovers.
Baker hosts Burns Saturday.
