Helen Clubb

Helen Martha Clubb, 95, a long-time Baker City resident, died May 17, 2011, at her home.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Baker City Christian Church, 675 Highway 7. Pastor Jesse Whitford will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Helen was born on Oct. 14, 1915, at Braggs, Okla., to Arch and Henrietta “Whinery,” Carroll. She worked as a riveter in the Douglas Defense plant in Tulsa, Okla., during World War II.

She married Elvin Clubb at Baker City on Feb. 12, 1947. She was a homemaker, raising her children and in later years worked as a “Grandma Aide” in the Baker elementary schools.

Helen loved all flowers and growing gardens. She loved people and no one was a stranger to her.

Her husband always said, “There will never be another Helen.” She was a very special person and was loved by all who met her. Helen was a longtime member of the Baker City Christian Church.

Survivors include her sons, Elvin I. Clubb of Boise and Archie T. Clubb and his wife, Paula, of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary S. and Tom Dunn of Baker City, and Janell and Mike Landis of Bend; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin Clubb; infant daughter, Barbara Ann Clubb; and great-granddaughter, Jaycee Dunn.

Mary-Margaret McKechnie

Mary-Margaret McKechnie, 68, of Baker City, died May 10, 2011, at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. June 4 at the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, 728 W. Fremont Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94087.

Mary was born Nov. 22, 1942, at Longview, Wash., to mother Shirley Beardsley. She lived at Sunnyvale, Calif., and attended school there.

In her later years, she moved to Baker City and was primarily employed in the clerical field and as a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and fishing as hobbies.

Survivors include her husband, Neil; son, David; and sister, Pat Foard.

She is preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, Donald.
