Two arrested in drug bust

A Baker City woman and a Milton-Freewater man were arrested Thursday

afternoon in Baker City by the Baker County Narcotics Enforcement Team

(BCNET).

During the arrests detectives seized about three-fourths of an ounce

of methamphetamine, four firearms, scales, drug paraphernalia and about

$3,200 in cash

OSP said the investigation has been ongoing for several months and

detectives got a break with a phone call from a Baker City hotel asking

police to investigate possible drug activity.

Police arrested Michael Anthony Watts, 31, and Ashley Anne Chase, 22

Watts was lodged in the Baker County Jail on charges of delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm. One of the firearms located was a loaded Glock .40-caliber pistol, which was unlawfully concealed in the vehicle, police said.

Chase was lodged on charges of delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine and supplying contraband into a correctional facility.

The narcotics team was assisted by uniformed members from the Baker City Police Department, and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.
