Heidi Slaymaker and Fred Maxwell have announced their engagement.

They are planning a wedding for July 31, 2010, at an aspen meadow in Salida, Colo.

The meadow at 10,500 feet, right on the Continental Divide in Salida. Guests will be asked to prepare for thunderstorms and thin oxygen at altitude.

The wedding will include an outdoor ceremony followed by bluegrass, dancing, and a bonfire. Freddy asked Heidi to marry him on a backcountry ride in one of their favorite high alpine meadows.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Olav and Margaret Slaymaker.

The groom is the son of Fred and Pam Maxwell of Haines.
