IN UNIFORM: Edward Gray

Pvt. Edward Lane Gray, 18, a 2009 Baker High School graduate has completed U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) at San Diego.
Gray successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 90 recruits in 2nd Battalion Echo Co. Training Platoon 2109.
While in basic training, Gray was awarded the sharpshooter badge for marksmanship, the National Defense Service Medal and he was a member of the company Honor Platoon.
After 10 days home on leave, he will report to Camp Pendleton for military combat training. Next he will attend the Military Occupation Specialty School at Fort Sill, Okla.
Gray is the son of Edward and Tammy Mercado of Baker City.
