Group hopes to gather again in five years
The Baker High School class of 1949 held their 60th class reunion
July 10-11, and 33 attended. Including spouses and guests, a total of
56 attended.
At the Friday evening event, poster boards were on display with
photographs of the 50th reunion held in 1999. Another board had
pictures from earlier years, including class photos of a second grade
Churchill class, a Brookly third grade class, fourth and sixth grade
North Baker classes and a section of past reunions from 1969, 1979 and
1989.
Alberta Bailey said, “It was a real thrill as each classmate came in the door and we recognized friends from the past, some from as far away as Southern California.”
Saturday afternoon’s gathering was hosted by Bob and Fern Taylor at their home in Sumpter.
“Some of our classmates who had lost a husband or wife brought sons or daughters as companions,” Bailey said. “I must say, as I visited with these children of the 49’ers, they were an impressive lot. They have retained the small-town values of their parents and were certainly a credit to them.”
Trish Everson catered both events, Bailey said.
The class hopes to have another reunion in five years.
