Katy Jacobs and Derral Thomas have announced their engagement, and

are planning an outdoor wedding ceremony this August in Halfway.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Perry and Corrina Jacobs of Keating.

She is a 2005 graduate of Baker High School, and is a beautician at the Stylin’ Arena in Hermiston.

Thomas is the son of Cary and Phyllis Thomas of Halfway. He is a 2000 graduate of Pine-Eagle High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in range ecology from Eastern Oregon University.

He is a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and is currently stationed in Heppner.
