U.S. Navy Commander Thomas Monroe turned over leadership of Naval Submarine Support Center (NSSC) New London to Commander Bryan Still during a change of command ceremony Feb. 20 at Naval Submarine Base New London’s Shepherd of the Sea chapel in Connecticut.
Monroe, a 1984 Baker High School graduate, earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering-physics from Oregon State University at Corvallis in June 1989 and a commission as a naval officer through the Navy ROTC program.
During Monroe’s tour as commanding officer, NSSC improved its quality of life programs and increased support for submarines, setting a new standard for shore-based submarine support.
Monroe will next serve the Assistant Program Manager at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS 404 (Undersea Weapons).
