Crossroads Carnegie Art Center’s 10th annual “Art at the Crossroads”
opens Friday, Sept. 5, and there’s still time to enter up to three
original pieces.
This regional art event is open to professional and amateur artists, 18
years and older. Each artist may submit up to three original pieces
completed in the last two years and not previously shown at Art at the
Crossroads.
Categories include: two-dimensional, sculpture, photography and fine crafts.
The entry fee for up to three pieces is $15. Cash prizes and ribbons
will be awarded. Art needs to be delivered to Crossroads on Sept. 1 and
2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s judge is Bob Jensen, owner of the Potter’s House in La Grande. He has a bachelor’s degree in art from Dickinson State University in North Dakota and a masters degree in art education from Boise State University. In addition to judging the show, Jensen will critique the art on Friday, Sept. 5, beginning at 10 a.m.
Admission to Art at the Crossroads is $5 at the door.
Crossroads is also calling all local bakers, both professional and amateur, to enter the Edible Art competition for gourmet deserts during Art at the Crossroads.
The evening will feature a wide variety of artwork by regional artists, live music, and desserts donated by local residents. A panel of judges will choose the best desserts based on taste and presentation. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners.
To participate in the Edible Art Contest, please fill out form at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center at 2020 Auburn Ave., or call Crossroads at 541-523-5369 by Sept. 4.
Desserts need to be delivered to Crossroads on Sept. 5 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Entrants will receive one complimentary ticket.
