George and June Lillehei of Baker City celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Tuesday.

They were married July 1, 1951, in Monterey, Calif. At that time, they were both in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, Calif. George was a sergeant and June was a private first class, but George says andquot;after getting married she outranked him and still does.andquot;

George retired from the Army in 1970 and the couple later settled in Baker City for their retirement.

They have four children: Michelle, Beth, Terease and Irene.
