The Baker City Council presented awards of excellence to city employees who exhibited andquot;exemplary service to the community of Baker City.andquot;

The awards presented at Tuesday’s City Council meeting honored city police officers and others for providing excellent security services for the May 11 visit of former President Bill Clinton, and for defusing a potentially deadly situation on May 4 when they safely disarmed a woman who had a gun.

Those city employees honored Tuesday included Sharon Bass, David Blair, Sara Blair, Dan Curtis, Craig Dolby, Travis Fields, Michael Harris, Brian Harvey, Tommy Hayes, Jake Jones, Kirk McCormick, Michelle Owen, Michael Regan, Gary Van Patten and Beth Yeaton.
