Geiser-Pollman Park is the place to be this weekend with motorcyclists, food and music all in honor of the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally.

First, the local club Biker City Riders will offer a barbecue Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the park. The main meal of tri-tip or chicken, corn and salads will cost $10. A meal of a hot dog or German sausage will cost less.

The same club will cook up breakfast for $6 on Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The public is welcome to partake of the meals, said Abel andquot;Wolfenandquot; Martinez, club president.

andquot; It’s for everybody. It’s for the children, grandmas, grandpas, andquot; he said.

Proceeds will support local charities, he said.

The rally’s opening ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Friday in the park. The local band Three-Legged Dog will play before and after the ceremony. The Bruno Dunes Trio will take over at 6 p.m. with a mix of eclectic blues, jazz, oldies and swing.

The music continues Saturday starting at 2 p.m. with Manny Gutierrez and Friends with country and oldies. Other acts that day are the Dark Town Strutters at 3 p.m. with music from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s and the Baker Elks Drum and Bugle Corps at 5 p.m.

This music, by the way, is courtesy of the Band Shell Committee working to garner support to build a new band shell in the park. The music is free, and the committee will accept donations to help with the project.

The Biker City Riders are also sponsoring a beer garden on Washington Avenue across the street from Baker Garage. Blues man Jimmy Lloyd Rea will play both nights, and Saturday will also feature music by Frank Carlson.

The rally bike show on Main Street begins at 7 p.m. Saturday night, and Miss Oregon Mary Lee Horuch will be there to present awards.

On Sunday, events start early at 7 a.m. with Biker Church, led by John Goodyear (who rides a Harley Davidson). Marvin Sundean will provide the gospel music, starting at 8 a.m.

Later Sunday will feature Nancy Ames with acoustic and folk music at 10 a.m.

This music schedule is subject to change, and organizers hope to fill in the rest of the days with more musicians.

The rally’s awards ceremony will be at 5 p.m. in the park.
