Perplexed and astounded

To the editor:

This letter is from a homeowner and future retiree. In a recent visit to Baker City I was astounded by the amount of broken down motor homes, fifth-wheelers, trailers, and derelict automobiles on the streets of the city.

These eyesores detract from the scenic beauty of the town. I find it perplexing that the city doesn’t have ordinances or code enforcement (or at least use them) to remedy this problem.

I noticed one corner that even had broken down tractors, wagons, and trailers.

I read an article in your paper as to how the Council rated the manager and vice versa. I think it would be prudent to have the residents of Baker rate their elected officials and city manager. There appears to be a lot of maintenance issues that go unattended on the streets and sidewalks.

Several streets have perpendicular cracks that will knock you out of the driver’s seat!

Where are the roadway tax monies going?
