Teresa Raines

Teresa Marie Raines, 82, of Austin, died March 2, 2008 at Boise.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gray’s West andamp; Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Vault interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pastor Roger Scovil of the Baker City Christian Church will officiate. There will be a reception afterward at the Baker Elks Lodge, 1896 Second St.

Visitations will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Gray’s West andamp; Co.

Teresa Marie was born on Jan. 17, 1926, at Ontario to John Floyd and Margarite Miller Hammack. Throughout her life she lived at Ontario, Unity, and Bates for 25 years and at Austin for 33 years. She married Forrest Eugene Raines on May 18, 1946, at Canyon City.

She was a wife and mother most of her life. She worked a few years out of the home at the Austin House and Gandamp;L Pine at John Day.

She enjoyed many years of smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee with her friend, Rosalie. Teresa also spent time rockhounding, bottle collecting, mining, making embroidery and gardening.

She was a dog lover and enjoyed reading poetry and the Bible. Teresa loved her family and friends with a whole heart, her greatest pleasure was being in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Eugene Raines; her daughter, Judy Ann Raines; her parents, John F. and Margarite Hammack; and a brother and a sister.

Survivors include her daughters, Frances Preston and her husband, Harold, Phronsie Raines and Billie Jo George and her husband, Terry; grandchildren, Todd Butts and his wife, Marcy, Michele Bartlett and her husband, Michael, John George, Terry George and his wife, Sarah, Amber Rittenbach and her husband, Rory, and Levi Preston; great-grandchildren, Joshua Butts, Tristan Butts, Forrest George, Emily George and Benjamin Bartlett; brothers, Delbert andquot;Budandquot; Hammack and Robert andquot;Bobandquot; Hammack; sisters Alice Irene andquot;Bootsandquot; Curtis, Karen Hensen and Norma Parrett; brother-in-law James L. andquot;Tobeandquot; Raines and his wife, Laura Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Norman Letchworth

Norman Edgar Letchworth, 91, of Halfway, died March 2, 2008, at his home.

There will be a memorial service and a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Monday at Pine Valley Presbyterian Church in Halfway. He was buried with his wife, Rosalind.

Norman was born on July 16, 1916, at Wilcox, Ariz., to Thompson and Mary Ann Squire Letchworth. He achieved many things in his life, such as being a dedicated father, husband and grandfather, his family said. He was a very honest and trusting friend.

Norman worked for 40 years before retiring as a conductor/engineer for Union Pacific Railroad.

He moved to Halfway several years ago to live at the home of his grandson, Norm Letchworth, and his wife, Michelle. Norman enjoyed being with his family very much. On his 91st birthday, he enjoyed his last train ride on the Sumpter Railroad.

He will be missed by many, his family said, including his friends at Boulder City, Nev., where he spent most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters; his wife, Rosalind; his companion, Helen Young; and his son, Edward.

Survivors include his stepdaughter, Valerie, and her husband, Bob, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Lissa Raftis of Spokane, Wash., and Norman and Michelle Letchworth of Halfway; seven great-grandchildren, Rochelle, Laura, Corey, Amanda, Danielle, Joshua and Kimberley; four great-great grandchildren, Lily Anne, Nickolas, Annalynn and Easton Eugene; and great-niece and caregiver, Jennifer Whybark.
