BOY SCOUT EXECUTIVE BECOMES INSURANCE AGENT IN LA GRANDE

Jerry Brookshire, who has been the Boy Scouts of America executive director in La Grande for five years, has opened an American Family Insurance Agency in La Grande Town Center next to Klamath First Bank.

Ill still be involved in civic activities, such as Lions and Rotary, he said.

He will operate the office with one assistant but hopes to have four people working in the office by February or March, he said. His wife, Jennifer, will continue to operate the pizza parlor on Fourth Street, he said.

The 74-year-old American Family Insurance Co., based in Madison, Wis., has been in Oregon for four years, but this is the first agency in La Grande, Brookshire said. Office hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment in the evenings and on Saturday. His phone number is 663-8155.
