MCCALL, Idaho Baker won both the girls and boys halves of the McCall Invitational cross-country meet Saturday.

The Bulldogs had seven runners place in the top 13 individually in the girls race. Six the of Bakers seven boys runners finished in the top 14 as well.

We were hoping our times would be faster, said Baker coach Suzy Cole.

Overall, there was nothing exceptional, but nothing bad. It gave us a chance to see where we need to continue to work. We need to work on our speed and work on resting up more.

Danielle Jordan won the girls race in a time of 20:20. Rebekah Duby was third, Tessa Vergari fourth, Katelyn Anderson seventh, Jill Nielsen 10th, Whittney Harris 12th, and Danielle Martin 13th.

In the boys race, Dan Temple was third in 18:14. Matt Henlsey was fourth, Josh Stanley 10th, Jesse Webb 11th, Clay DeMastus 13th, John Aguirre 14th, and Jed Rembold 20th.

Baker runners Sara Jury and Casey Curtis also won the JVportion of the race. Jury finished in 24:23, and Curtis in 18:54.

Cole said Curtis and Stanley continue to run strong.

Duby and Webb were named Baker runners of the week.

Bakers next action is Friday at the Pendleton Invitational.

Bakers only home meet is Oct. 18 at the Baker City Golf Club. Anyone interested in helping with that meet is asked to call John Birkmaier, BHS athletic director, at the school, 523-6336.
